Can Old and Young Merge?
|
|

|
Dear Renee,
I am a 52-year-old man in love with a woman in her late 20s. I know... it's ridiculous. First, she doesn't return the affection, although we are friends. Second, she can't stand the thought of dating someone as old as me.
I know it's not just an infatuation. It's not the fact that she's young either; in fact, I wish she were older just to eliminate the age difference issue. I really do care for her deeply -- enough to keep things friendly and not offend her.
I guess my question is, am I being ridiculous by thinking that a much younger woman could fall in love with a man my age?
Still hopeful,
Older Love
Dear OL,
I have seen younger women dating older men and yes, it can happen. However, in this case, I believe your chances are very slim. She made herself clear and that's that. If you care for her and think you can deal with the frustration, then be her friend and enjoy that form of a relationship, although that will be extremely difficult.
I recommend that you move on because time is a wasting. There are plenty of single women out there just waiting to date you and this one looks like a dead end.
